A shop can sell a great deal and still earn little. The cause is rarely sales; it is the details: items moving on a thin margin, stock sitting on your money, and stocktake differences nobody can explain.
The first step is making the till and the stock one system. When every sale reduces the balance immediately, stocktaking drops from a day to an hour and the gap between paper and reality shrinks. And when discounts and returns need approval, a common source of loss closes.
The second step is the numbers. Margin by item and department, which goods turn quickly, and which hours are busiest — all of it changes what you buy, how you arrange shelves, and how many tills you staff.
The third, where the area allows it, is online ordering and delivery. It does not need a large store; a simple page with the core items and an order on WhatsApp opens a new income stream from the same stock and the same team.
